#OnePlaceWednesday is a weekly social media chat, taking place primarily on Bluesky, when we share posts about one-place studies – and invite others to do the same – using the hashtag. Here are highlights from August 13th, 2025.

The Image used to launch #OnePlaceWednesday this week, featuring Fawsley Hall in the parish of Fawsley, Northamptonshire, England, is by the Society’s Social Media Coordinator Steve Jackson, who conducts the Fawsley One-Place Study.

After the Great Fire of London in 1666, farmer John Woodman of Kellaways, Wilts was suspected of starting it after allegedly expressing intent to set London ablaze shortly before. A warrant was issued but he vanished. He quietly returned & died at home in Kellaways 3 years later. #OnePlaceWednesday

Since we last checked The Badsey Society🔗 website, many more articles (11 in July alone!) on a variety of topics have been added for the #OnePlaceStudy of Badsey, Aldington and Wickhamford in Worcestershire. Well worth a look on #OnePlaceWednesday!

An exciting #OnePlaceWednesday for me - I’m planning a birthday trip to my #OnePlaceStudy of #Sudbourne! We’ll be staying in the nearby village of #Orford. We’ll be visiting places which give an insight into the social history of Suffolk and having fun on Southwold Pier! #WindowsOnWednesday

Good news on #OnePlaceWednesday for those interested in #HouseHistory in #Shropshire: Shropshire Archives has announced🔗 a new House History Guide! Not quite such good news: Currently the book is only available to buy in person at the Archives (and, in 2025 the Archive is only open on Thursdays🔗).

Image: Front cover of the Shropshire Archives publication "House History: A guide to research at Shropshire Archives." Below the title is a montage of six monochrome images; three feature houses, the others feature a handwritten document, part of a map showing field names, and a front elevation drawing of a house.

I’m spending #OnePlaceWednesday having a good sort out of materials old and new. I need to create space as I gather more projects. Came across this and wondered if any one else remembers Eve McLaughlin. She was a major help to local people starting out on a FH journey back in the early 80’s
