- 1.
Install WebScrobbler on your browser (instructions here: https://webscrobbler.com/)
- 1.
Works on Chrome (and Chrome-based browsers like Brave), Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Vivaldi and more
- 2.
Once you install it, make sure to scroll to the bottom of this guide to set up the privacy protection settings
- 2.
Go to: https://b-cd.app/profile/settings, make sure you are logged in
- 3.
Under Music Tracking Service, select WebScrobbler, then scroll down to see the instructions to connect, you will see this Webhook URL box
- 4.
Click the Copy button and paste the URL somewhere you will not lose it
- 4.
BCD will only show you it ONCE, during setup, and then not again unless you disconnect WS and reconnect
- 5.
Click the Save Changes button to save the change to connect via WebScrobbler
This is the end of the steps you do on the BCD website
- 6.
Open the settings on WebScrobbler extension/plugin (click the WS button on browser, then the gear to open settings).
- 6.
This will open a new tab in your browser to change the settings
- 7.
Click "Accounts" in the sidebar, and scroll down to Webhook in the list of options
- 6.
Type "bcd" in the Application name box, paste the saved URL from step 4, then click "Save"
- 8.
It will look like this when it's connected to BCD (my unique URL section is blurred)
- 9.
You are now connected! Below are some additional configuration options you may want to set in WebScrobbler but they are not required, just nice.
- 10.
Optional Advanced Setup
- 9.
You can install WebScrobbler on multiple browsers, such as if you're using your PC sound output options for a different output per browser
- 10.
If you do this, you can use the same Webhook URL you saved in step 4 to connect WebScrobbler in your other browsers to your same BCD account. They will scrobble in parallel (I have tested it)
Optional WebScrobbler settings to dial in, these are settings I like but you pick what suits you
- 1.
Advanced Menu: Scrobble at 25% of song duration
- 1.
I am impatient and I want to see ASAP if my song isn't registering on BCD
- 2.
Connectors Menu: ctrl+f for all the services you use and click the down carat to configure them more
- 1.
Red X for "use now playing notifications" because I don't want pop ups
- 2.
Green check for "notify if track is not recognized"
- 3.
Scrobble behavior > Force Track Recognition
- 3.
Options menu: turn on Notify if track is not recognized and Show infobox, set Scrobble Behavior to "Force track recognition"
Important Privacy Setup for Browser Extensions
This browser extension, as installed, will read all of your website data to see if there's something there to scrobble. But it does not have to read all of your websites, you can configure it to only function on your streaming websites.
- 1.
Go to your browser's settings for downloaded extensions, in Chromium-based browsers it'll be Settings > Extensions > Manage Extensions
- 2.
In Site Access click "On all Sites" to change the option to "On Specific Sites"
- 1.
It will then let you add various website URLs here. You only need the first bit of the URL then type an asterisk to cover all the sub-sites under it.
- 1.
Ex: "https://music.apple.com/*" (but don't type the quotation marks)
- 2.
I set mine to only read info on the streaming sites I use, as seen in screenshot below: Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube Music, Youtube
Happy and safe streaming everyone! APOBANGPO!
