Shorts: Seeds of Evil

It's Minnesota State Fair time and that means crop art. And, this year, one piece has a rare crossover into my love of horror and creature features.

Framed by two aspen trees, there is an outhouse in the bottom center, light by an unknown light source inside and more trees in the background. Centered above the outhouse, and taking up much of the sky, is agiant spider in the vein of movies like Tarantula or Earth vs the Spider from the 50s and the modern romp Eight Legged Freaks.

It's a fun little piece that captures that moment where the audience knows what's coming but the inhabitants of the world have no idea of their fate.

If you make it to the fair and decide to brave the crop art line, check it out. It, like many pieces, has been overshadowed by pieces about the Federal ICE occupation and deserves more love. And it's so much cooler in person.
