I am taking a hiatus from consuming social media. Not sure for how long. Maybe a month (so until early October 2026)? We'll see how it goes.
I will keep posting via a write-only interface, but if you want to reach me, use email, or Slack, or Signal.
What's up?
I'm ok, but my feeds are more and more filled with stuff that activates me but that I have little agency over. Call it injustice sensitivity, call it "I can recognize fascism from my grandmother's stories," call it having a brain in 2026, I don't know. Anyway, I get why my peers care—so do I!—and I respect them posting about it, but it's not doing me or the world any good to beam it into my eyes every few hours.
Meanwhile, I am also finding out that a portion of my peers is refusing to observe or acknowledge reality as it is and even demands we reject our own lived experience in service of their beliefs. I grew up with an anti-vaxxer, so it's... tiring and destabilizing to witness this.
On the other hand, Geomys and I have an all-time high pile of interesting work to do: post-quantum cryptography, transparency logs, Go, C2SP, atproto... even a big not-so-secret project still to announce. So I guess I can miss out on the new interesting stuff for a bit and work on what I've got lined up.
