2004 Annual Garden Party
It is 1pm and in two hours our annual Garden party starts. We have nearly everything ready and Paula has just gone to get the food.
Shitaji-Mado
I have finally got around to finishing off the machiai by installing the missing wall complete with a shitaji-mado - a built-in bamboo window lattice.
Lower Garden Area Re-vamp
There's not been much going on in this area, but since we put out a new raised platform this whole area has come alive for us.

Our Annual Garden party!
Today is our third annual Garden Party. We had the first one to celebrate rebuilding the garden and had so much fun that we decided to do one every year.
New garden water feature
I have installed a new water feature in the garden at the back in the raised bed. Paula and I visited the Ideal Home Exhibition in March where they had several fantastic stainless steel water features.
All my own work
Planted these allium christophii last year as bulbs and just look at them now! Lots of other bulbs on their way too.
Spring has sprung
Despite the lack of entries here we have been doing a lot to the garden over the winter.
Winter is upon us
We have not had any snow or ice yet and only a very little frost. The garden is getting ready for a cold Jan and Feb.
New Bamboo!
ur visit to Coolings Garden Centre found us a stunning coloured-cane bamboo. The garden's blooming beautifully with saxifrage still flowering since April.
Clematis go in
I made a small trellis, from bamboo that I had pruned out of the garden last month, which I have dug in with the first clematis up against the fence.
Black fence
We have painted the eastern boundary fence black. We tried to get some more of the black fence paint that we had already used.
