I took a trip to San Francisco in 2022 with my friend Ian. These photos are from the couple of hours we spent at the Exploratorium, which has long been one of my favorite places.
A couple shots here from a short trip we took to San Francisco in September 2024 with a couple of teenage cousins. They'd never seen the Golden Gate Bridge before (or been to San Francisco), so it was one of our main stops while in the city. It's one of my favorite cities, and I lived there for a bit as a kid, but it's a little funny, because the Golden Gate Bridge isn't the bridge of my childhood. That's the Bay Bridge. Not as glamorous or memorable, to be sure, but it's bigger and more gray.
We had a couple of extra days to fill this spring break, so decided to head up to NYC to see a Broadway show (Book of Mormon….it was hilarious!) and do a few other random things. We travel to NYC fairly frequently, mostly for Broadway but also because there is so much to do in the city. We came here because a little #hamilfan in our family really wanted to see Alexander Hamilton’s grave. The church and graveyard are beautiful and the juxtaposition of the church surrounded by Wall Street is incre...
Contrary to what many non-locals think, the Tidal Basin in D.C. is far from the only place in the D.C. area to see the cherry blossoms. In fact, in my experience as a lifelong local, some of the best places to see the cherry blossoms are simply driving through the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. Cherry blossoms near the Washington Monument. Here’s some pictures from the 2026 cherry blossom season, which has been absolutely spectacular.
We took a trip this weekend to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania (about 45 minutes west of Philadelphia). It’s still early spring so we were there for the indoor conservatories, especially to see the blooming of the blue poppies. The conservatories are absolutely gorgeous, composed of multiple large greenhouse buildings featuring different climates (the tropical greenhouse, the smallest one, was my favorite on the chilly day we visited, because it felt like stepping into another w...
A few photos from an amazing trip to Acadia National Park in Maine (August 2022). This is a beautiful national park. We stayed in downtown Bar Harbor which was also fun, a great little town to explore when not in the national park.
Nestled in the western portion of West Virginia, New River Gorge National Park is the newest national park and happens to be just a 5 hour drive from the D.C. area where we live. We decided to check it out recently and had an amazing time. We lodged at the New River Gorge Cabins, which were private and quiet, and included our own campfire ring. The weather was pretty hot, so we stuck to small hikes but still had some really nice views. But highlight of the trip was a family white water rafting t...
In striking difference with the past month, October has been quite busy and hectic. And no, it's not because of Halloween! Not only did I travel to two places, but there have also been many events, and anxiousness about things happening around be. Let's recap.
A few weeks ago, a few friends and I visited New York. It was our first trip to the United States. This had been planned for quite some time, so, between the hesitation, the current geopolitical situation, and all the scary news, we still went. And what a trip it was!
One more month has passed, and June is now away from us. We've officially entered the last half of the year, at least when it comes to counting months. It was quite a busy month, with travel, new job, events, and the heat! Let's take a look.
April was a fantastic month. Spring is now on full swing, the trees and flowers are in full blossom, and the weather is warming up - perhaps a bit too much. It was also a month of travel, my second intercontinental trip ever. Let's take a look!
March has ended a few days ago, meaning that this recap is coming a bit later than usual. Maybe it is a product of the weather being nicer, and the fact that I've been a bit more busy than usual. It's been quite some hectic days!
Yesterday, we visited the Harry Potter Studios. Since it was quite far away from the center, it took some time to get there, and consequently most of the day. It was worth it. It’s one of those one in a lifetime experiences to see the actual set of one of your favorite franchises. And the butter bee…
We arrived last night at St Pancras with the Eurostar. It’s the second time doing this trip using the train, and despite taking much longer than the flight, I’m glad I made that decision. It probably helps that I never took the flight from Eindhoven to London, which takes around 40 minutes. The adva…
December is now coming to an end. It's time to recap about what has happened during this last month, before writing my final Year in Review. This month was quite of a rollercoaster, I visited a few places, met with people a few times and watched a lot of stuff.
October is now two days away. Halloween is gone - which I always enjoying mentioning despite never doing anything for it -, and my birthday too. I'm now 25, a quarter of a century, a very interesting-feeling number. Some would say it's now closer to the 30s than to the 20s. Let's recap what's happened this last month!
September is now almost gone and we're diving deeper and deeper into the autumn. Despite a few problems here and there, I think it was quite a nice month, and it's important to always try seeing things for their positive side, despite that now always being very easy.
What it’s like to travel across the country via Amtrak—and what you need to know if you want to do it yourself.
Uff, I wanted to write this before the end of August, but I'm still on time. August is over and it's starting to feel a bit like autumn to me. Quite excited, as it will become a bit colder, hopefully, and it's also one of my favorite seasons. Very colorful! But now, let's recap August!
Last weekend - starting on Friday - we went on a small trip to Limburg, the southernmost region of the Netherlands. The initial plan was to bring our bikes and bike to some interesting points in this region. Due to my wrist, we decided it would be better to just walk. I'm so glad we made that decision!
Time flies and now it's June that is coming to an end. This was the first month, or at least first weeks, of summer. Despite all the rain and the mild weather that we've been having here in the Netherlands, it reached 30°C last week. A bit too warm if you ask me, especially when it comes to how houses are not prepared to deal with heat.
March had quite a lot of highlights for me, despite the bike shituation. Let's take a look and recap what has happened the past month. I always have to go through my calendar and check stuff for these posts!
February is complete. That means that around 16% of the year is also gone. Many things happened this month - I feel like I say this every month though. Let's take a look at everything that happened, from some trips, to my Dutch language course ending.
Over the past days, my partner and I did a small trip to Vienna - and also Bratislava. This post is not going to be about the trip and the cities themselves, but about the transport to and from Vienna: the Nightjet. This was our first time trying out night trains, so it was quite a journey.
