Bro has me thinking even more about atproto flash cards now smh. This is good thinking! I definitely feel like I collect a lot of good content but the “later” at which I would theoretically sit down and digest it and incorporate it never comes. The spaced repetition habit seems perfect for an ongoing learning lifestyle. 
How do you queue your cards? Do new ones get prioritized and then decay over time? Does it resurface older cards? Who is gonna hook up Anki to the PDS??

Awesome stuff Nick! Is this inherently scoped to attesting payment activity? I can see the same primitives being useful for a attesting other kinds of action, say level completion in a video game or watching a certain number of videos from a creator unlocking flare.

My guess is that mentioning ATproto, and by extension Bluesky, as the technical foundation of their product would undermine their branding and sovereignty pitch. We in the space know that building on ATproto does not make you dependent on US tech. The broader public does not. They see Bluesky as an American Left Twitter. Any associative link between W and Bluesky would defeat the whole point of their announcement. I don't like it. I don't agree with it. But I get it. Let's welcome them into the ATproto community and help them make the most of the fantastic ecosystem choice they made.

Cosign. Such a waste of effort and attention to emulate the platforms but on the other side of the ocean. What difference will that make? Change the game. Overwrite the problem entirely.

@iame.li has been playing with purpose built PDS for video, which has certain behaviors and features needed for that context. I wonder if a PDS enhanced for publishing could add version retention of records. How accessing previous versions works from a technical perspective 🤷🏻 but I know it has been discussed before.

Yup quite reasonable! Even for ATdevs immersed in this it can be easy to forget that the only difference between collections under your NSID and someone else’s is who decides the shape of that data. If there’s a lexicon that useful to your app experience, use it! If it’s helpful to convert that to a schema of your own, sure whatever. A lot can be done simply by accessing records from another app’s collections.

Yes yes yes! We have access to incredibly compelling affordances within the atmosphere but are still figuring out how to leverage them. As we do it will become the competitive advantage against incumbent platforms.
