lol wait why are we doing similar things

only started the plans though 😅
This is an example comment ;)This is really helpful to see! Hope others jump on board and share, it’s useful to have this info to project costs for a current or future project. One thing with PDS server is they're meant to be lightweight, so cheap to host. Is that part of the hope/philosophy for the leaf server too, or is that just essentially down to how big/active the server becomes?when I read this the first time I told myself I’d look into how/if this applies to follow records but I haven’t done that yet so I’ma ask even tho I feel like it should be obvious: can upsert be used for following?
Right now for ATlast I am grabbing a user‘s followers and confirming they don’t follow someone before I write a follow record for them. Would be awesome if I could skip that, but wonder if having multiple follow lexicons prevents this (if it’s otherwise possible).I think Bluesky already has a CDN? And the pds ref implementation has something about removing blobs that aren’t referenced?
These are things I’ve read so I do not have details and could be wrong 😝Related to this and knowing it’s been shared publicly is definitely motivating me to finish despite being on the boring parts now!(And because I want to do the other hobbies!!!)Relatable. I do computational work and like computer hobbies. I’m loosely thinking about ways I can better disperse my time to other hobbies too, so I’m not always looking at a screen.Yup - great read. Classic behavior change tactic that doesn’t often work, i.e. eliminating a habit without replacing it rarely works well or sustainably. Whenever I feel myself spending to much time on screen I think about why and focus on what I want to do instead.
But also I love my screens and don’t subscribe to the idea they’re the worst thing ever for our health. Everything in moderation, as they say. (And intention matters IMO)beautiful implementation 😍Related question: is it the action of merging/filtering to get certain threshold that contributes more to cost, or the storage of the extra data needed for threshold?
Really neat insight into y’all’s work btw! Deepens my appreciate even further for the work the team is doing. What does poorly specified thresholding look like? Or maybe I’m confused by the specific terminology here but I got confused about thisPretty sure @popfeed.social went through a lexicon namespace change semi recently too! No work needed on my afai recall, just switched over once I logged back in after the update or somethingI can’t remember if search surfaces content by alt text. But many custom feeds search alt text! I even have a feature for some feed creators that allows them to EXCLUDE posts without it, so it’s def useful. Users that really hate how hashtags work can use something like deckblue to add what we call “hidden” tags too - these are tags in the post metadata that aren’t shown visibly by Bluesky, but many custom feeds search for them.all of these sound great but I neeeeed tables 🫶 I’m a tables and bullets writing kinda girlieThank you for the update on this! Also impressed how concise it was haha. Happy to see action is being taken to enable the composable-moderation goals of the greater ATmosphere.
