Yeah I'm not personally a fan of the suggestion that Bsky would've had better luck as a FB clone, because I've pretty much become so radically anti-FB that it extends beyond the product and into the founding premise itself. I would much rather we abandon the idea of FB outright instead of having FB but more 'ethical'

I feel like it could've exploded in popularity more if it *was* a FB clone but yeah, I hate it there too. I don't use anything Meta. I like microblogging and don't care about connecting with people from IRL. That's why I always liked twitter and tumblr so much back in the day lol it was an escape FROM all the people I already knew. I don't think it needs to be a Facebook/Threads/Twitter killer to survive though tbh. It would be cool if more people were here, but I like the smaller community vibe too, in comparison to an everything app where everyone you know is always online.

I think we're pretty much doomed for history to repeat itself. I love the way things like this feel when they're new. And at least we have a good chunk of time where it's awesome and people build some really cool things we use for a long time. But then everything eventually enshittifies and hopefully the next thing comes out that we can use for a while. Nothing lasts forever but some things are great for a while at least.

I feel you 1000%. I know I'll be better off if I "just do it" and get in the groove, but it's overwhelming to actually change states and make it happen. Especially the part about waking up! It feels like the beginning of an impossible todo list every time I hear the alarm clock. When I'm off work, I can sleep in for a couple extra hours but the entire day goes better if I skip the snooze button and jump out of bed right away.

I just went through the same thing. I took the lazy way out and just started fresh here lol. In a way it's kind of refreshing, but I have about two years worth of posts I'm really going to miss for a while.

Anisota is awesome! I've been using it for maybe a month or so. Browsing in text mode over there gives Bluesky a whole different feel. So many cool things being built in the Atmosphere lately.
