hey nate! any plans on setting up GitHub Sponsors/Patreon/Ko-fi/Buy Me a Coffee/Liberapay for donos?
you know, the usual open-source sustainability question partthanks for the archive link! (although it would be nice if it was also an web.archive.org version for prosperity)
gotta follow you on other places brw (yeah I still have to use Facebook but I am not actively posting there tbh but Threads and Instagram is a different beast)welcome aboard! any plans on importing older posts from there perchance?maybe it has something to do with the bus factor that plagued burnt out open-source devs for decades methinksThe USD 99/year on Apple Developer accounts is diabolical compared to Google's USD 25 one-time fee for Google Play + USD 5 on Chrome Web Extensions Store.
Also any plans for the Android port of Inkwell if someone with deep pockets would mind funding that in the future? Also to add here, Mastodon isn't the whole fediverse itself but oftentimes the standard other fediverse apps follow, mainly for compatibility reasons with the ActivityPub post formats. As I do love the fediverse but been using the Atmosphere more mainly due to its ecosystem of apps as well as app interop without the pain of needing separate accounts for each app, I going to say I hate these kinds of in-fighting within the open social web community.
More context from @thisismissem.social: https://writings.thisismissem.social/statement-on-discourse-about-activitypub-and-at-protocol/👀👀👀 Any plans in making those VODs available in the fediverse with 's help for those using and friends?
Regarding storage limits, will the HQ plan to offer storage packs for those archiving VODs for other creators in unofficial status (aka those unofficial VOD channels y'all seeing on YouTube) or those who have years of VOD archives that too painful to upload to by hand or is self-hosting much more preferred to minimize centralization risks (aka the "bus factor" we often talk about regarding OSS sustainability)?
I probably experimented with the Solid protocol before (even though it's minimal), so 👀👀👀👀👀.
And in case anyone's cooking similarly to this if we adopt crypto/web3 speak here (pardon the technicalities, it's my autistic self reading through the specs and stuff): buckets = centralized compute; spaces = centralized/federated compute (depends on protocol used)
