i definitely have fallen into some of these failures modes, i definitely didn’t mean for it to be just outward looking moral condescension at all. just satire lamenting certain especially painful (for me at least) modes that i’ve seen or been subjected to recently with personal stuff and online
and not that all of them are necessarily “failure modes”. just patterns that felt emblematic of broader “bad/empty feel”

this isn’t really something i want to say too publicly (i.e. on my bsky as a reply) but generally this is how antisocial behavior works and i know because it’s how it manifests in me. it felt too eerie reading this

through some upsetting turn of events, someone put this on hackernews and started a piranha feeding frenzy of speculation about what / who im referring to here. so just to be clear:

i wrote this bulleted list in a couple minutes as a way to rant about the lack of charity i was noticing in 2 places
- my family, where 2 members aren't speaking to each other for petty reasons, looking for the other to capitulate and admit they're the aggressor

- on bluesky, where users are blaming every outage on "vibe coding"

if you took extra meaning from it, i'm sorry or congrats!

footnotes seem messed up here but the second one (labeled as 0) is supposed to be

This was great Nate. I'm so interested in the positioning, branding and communication around the protocol. I'll be following.
thanks! i too am super keen to see where we land on branding/messaging!

thank you! i appreciate the message, i am very easily nerd-sniped and excitable and have a lot of work to do as far as regulating / practicing restraint in the interest of longevity/health

i resonate with the desire to find one! i'm also ok with the possibility that there's not one for me! i love music just as much as i love software, but people seem to appreciate my software more, for example haha. we contain multitudes!

appreciated these notes!
