I understand why "the most users" feels like the right move in some cases (Bsky's lexicons being the obvious one). But in most cases, I would hope the interoperable standard is the minimal viable one that helps connect different lexicons without making it too difficult to adopt. But, yeah, letting the developers (and maybe lexicon community) decide on a case-by-case basis makes the most sense here.Yup, they use Article type and have a Note for the preview which shows up on Mastodon:

@mentions - For now, I plan on "faking it" and just linking when I @mention an ATProto user, but notifying them of it would be a huge bonus. But that's the tricky part - do they get notified on Leaflet? Bsky? Email? All the things?
